Our Week

What have we been up to?

I completely forgot to tell you all tat I was dear Alice Jean's Miss Living Pinup for April!  You can read all about it here.

Miss 3 turned Miss 4

Another 4 baby guinea pigs were born, making a total of 16. Anybody want one?  Or two? Or 10?

I played with a new style of beadmaking and made some pretty cool glass beads.

I found this picture and think it's fab.

Melbourne Museum

After my Love Vintage post a few expressed interest in seeing photos of the Melbourne Museum, so your wish is my command!

We go to the Museum at least once a year but this time it was extra good because we were all dressed Super Fabulously after being at the Fair, so every single person in there was staring and wishing they were us.

Miss now turned 4 learning about dinosaur bones.

Imagine painting this fingernail!

Freaking out over the tarantulas!

The Sexiest Man was all over the beetles and is pointing out the biggest for you all to see.

Me looking a little glazed and a teeny bit bored. My feet were killing me. I had been walking in 3 inch heels for 6 hours!

And I couldn't believe it when I saw this display of 1950's kitchen paraphenalia because I have those exact same canisters and I'm getting that same Sunbeam mixer! Aren't they wonderfully sublime together? I'm still looking for matching spice canisters and cake/biscuit containers if anybody knows of any for sale?

Surrounded by stuffed stuff.

And one of Miss 10 looking super cute.

There was also the human bodies exhibition with the birthing video, statues of naked bodies thru our years from birth to old age, poo going thru a digestive system, and dissected body pieces.....but I won't turn you off your dinner.

Kate Collins Cottlesloe By Night

Cottlesloe By Night is a deep "sea blue" with some turquoise and micro fine silver glitters. It is inspired by taking a swim after dark at Cottesloe (Kate wrote this with a smiley next to it which makes me think that maybe some skinny dipping was involved???!)

A disclaimer with my photos is that they were taken at midnight with no natural light, therefore the photos suck. The bottle color is magnificent, packed full of holographic glitter and wonderfulness, but it didn't translate to the nails unfortunately. They seemed to stick to the sides of the bottle and not onto the brush!

So I matte-ified it with Essie matte top coat.

Kate is a materials engineer and has a bit of a side project in making nail polishes which she has sold as fundraisers for kids daycare/kindy for the past few years. She has just opened an Etsy shop which has a few colors available now so please check it out.

Kate Collins Ningaloo

Ninga-what??? I hear you all say!
Kate Collins, an Australian nail polish franken extrodinaire has started selling on Etsy and I am featuring one of them today for you all. You will thank me, it's gorgeous.

This nail polish is inspired by snorkeling through the Ningaloo Reef. The sea blue base is able to be layered through to opacity starting at a sheer blue. The dominant glitter is a turquoise, with pinks, purples, greens and a touch of gold coming through in different lights suggesting the experience of catching glimpses of coral and fauna as you swim.

The above pics were taken in natural light. Bottom pics taken under artificial lights.

I layered one coat of Ningaloo over a coat of A-England's Saint George, below. Finished with a coat of Seche QD.

Ningaloo retails for $7 USD via Kate's Etsy store.

Frock Up Fair

Last week we went to the Frock Up Fair in Bendigo, hosted by The Way We Wear Fairs. I caught up with some vintage buddies, made some new ones and helped a friend purchase 2 divine Lilli Ann New Look suits which she looked absolutely gorgeous in.

There's Catherine! Catherine and I traded a beaded cardi for one of my cherry necklaces recently. Good swap I say!

Vintage fabric galore.

The divine Kim with and without her fur coat.  The New Look is Kim's signature look and it suits her gorgeous figure.  Sigh.  She also hosts Vintage warehouse shopping tours to L.A and 2013 is going to incorporate a huge Vintage Fair, the very one that Dita Von Teese never fails to miss and purchase big at.

Japanese vintage Couture.

1970's nail polish sample board.  I was all over this until I read the price tag: $175.

I was feeling a little bit 'womanly', bloated and blah and the last thing I felt like wearing was a dress.  I hate wearing pants but I pulled out my sailor look ones and teamed it with a 1940's Mexican jacket for a casual look.  Lots of lots of bakelite made me feel much better.

BOOYAH!  BAKELITE PORN POWER!

This was the first Frock Up Fair in Bendigo and am unsure if there will be another.  I will keep you Victorian ladies updated when I find out more.

Aqua Daisy Right Eye Blue

After the sublime wonderfulness of Purple Heart, I quickly added a few more colors into my Etsy shopping cart from Emmy's store.

This is Right Eye Blue, the left eyepatch from a pair of 3D glasses!! Navy jelly base with several sizes of silver glitter.  So gorgeous!!

I loved buying these from Emmy because Emmy makes these as a hobby while attending school, along with hair accessories.  Her Mum sells and ships from Etsy and looks after all things technical.  Super cool hey?

Who else is thinking this might be a good match for Lippmann's Across The Universe?  I'll have to schedule a comparison post....you couold save yourself some bucks by getting this instead!

Fixation Poppy

Another Fixation (Northern Star) polish for you today. This is 2 coats of Poppy, a peach jelly with flower shaped glitter! I had to buy it just for the flower glitter, but the color is not too crash for my skintone. Lobster claws anyone??

It went on smoothly with lots of glitter on the brush. I did fish around and plant the flowers on individually. Finished with a coat of Seche QD.
