Orange Lipstick Comparison Swatches

I also swatched my oranges while cleaning out my make up case the other day, and a few were interested in swatches.   Orange lipstick is a color I only started wearing about a year ago.  I didn't deem it vintage enough to try, but I always now put Orange lippie on if there is a snippet of it somewhere in what I am wearing over a Red.

They are from Left to Right: Sleek Tangerine Scream, Sleek OMG, MAC Morange, MAC So Chaud and MAC Lady Danger.

Sleek Tangerine Scream, Sleek OMG, MAC Morange in natural light.

And under artificial light.

Sleek Tangerine Scream. Once again, Sleek really do have the most intensely pigmented colors.  For $6.49 they are a HUGE bargain.  This color only needs one swipe to be opaque and a true bright Orange.

Sleek OMG.  This is a darker orange with a red hue.  Against my true Orange lipliner, there is a difference but I prefer this shade over Tangerine Scream.  It's also matte so it's not shiny. RRP $6.49

MAC Morange is a sheen and intensely bright.  It looks a little weird on my pale skin so I'm glad I tried this in a sample tube from The Body Needs first as I would have regretted buying a full size. $3

MAC Morange, MAC So Chaud and MAC Lady Danger under artificial light.

Under natural light.

MAC So Chaud is a darker orange and is nice when I want to wear an Orange that isn't so intense.  It's a color that would look fabulous on a darker skin tone.  I also got this in a sample tube.  $3

MAC Lady Danger.  This was a tricky color for me to find, it was always sold out at every MAC counter I tried in Australia, Hong Kong and Singapore!  I eventually purchased it on eBay for $22.  I know a lot of girls wear this color as their RED, but on me it looks truely Orange.  It does match my MAC Cherry lipliner tho!  It's a color I wear often.

Which Orange suits you best?

Vintage Red Lipstick Swatches #2

For reference, my first red lipstick post is HERE.    And since then, well, I have accumulated quite a few more red lippies!  I cleaned and culled my makeup case the other morning, and swatched the new ones while I was at it.

From Left to Right:  Illamasqua Tramp, Secret Kisses Velvet, Secret Kisses Kiss, Sleek Vixen, MAC Red, MAC Ronnie Red, Revlon Really Red, Revlon In The Red, Gade Red Signature, Illamasqua Sangers and MUA Bring It.

Artificial light. Click for large pics

Natural light. Click for larger pics. Illamasqua Tramp, Secret Kisses Velvet, Secret Kisses Kiss, Sleek Vixen, MAC Red and MAC Ronnie Red.

Illamasqua Tramp.  I purchased this at their last sale for 5 GBP, which is about the cheapest you will ever find an Illamasqua lipstick for.  It's a classic tue red, but does tend to 'ball' a little on my lips.

Secret Kisses Velvet and Secret Kisses Kiss.  These 2 lipsticks I wear almost daily.  They are a perfect formula and long lasting.  If I had to cull my lipsticks drastically, these 2 would make the cut.  $14.99 RRP or on sale for $10 at times.

Sleek Vixen.  An Ode to Sleek Makeup!  I LOVE all things Sleek as their products are stupidly well priced for such fabulous products.  Their true color lippies, like Vixen, are all insanely pigmented and bargain priced at $6.50. Vixen is leaning towards an orange more than a blue toned red and would look fab on all skintones.

MAC Red.  This color I only have in a sample tube from The Body Needs.  It's richly pigmented and all that we expect from MAC.  I don't grab for it over Ruby Woo or Russian Red, but the sample tubes last for ages and fit nicely into small lucite purses! $3 for sample sizes.

MAC Ronnie Red.  Well, I got this for the tube! (see below)  As it turns out, it's a lovely pink toned red that looks fabulous with my pale skin. Not a typically vintage red but the tube graphics make it a fun red to own!  Sold out online and best bet is to look on eBay for it.  Averages $35+

Artificial light.

Natural light.

Revlon Really Red, Revlon In The Red, Gade Red Signature, Illamasqua Sangers and MUA Bring It.

Revlon Really Red is a great color to keep in the car/extra purse/holiday travel bag.  It's pigmented, matte and a rich red color.  I say to keep in the car, etc, because this sells for $2 at online retailers such as Brands Exclusive, Ozsale and Buy Invite (Australia only). Otherwise, Revlon is sold at every Target/Kmart and Chemist.

Revlon In The Red is another color I picked up for $2 online.  It's a brick red and not my prefered color.  If this color is what rocks your boat, then it's a great pick due to it's pigmentation and formula.

Gade Red Signature is a color I got in a monthly Lust Have It box several months ago.  It's a fab little compact lippie, with a push button release.  It's a very bright Red, not blue toned at all and would suit a blonde haired vintage Queen.  RRP unknown.

Illamasqua Sangers.  Another lippie on my wishlist I crossed off on their 5 GBP sale.  Your typical blue toned Red that I absolutely did not need another example off, but purchased anyway.  16 GBP RRP if you purchase non sale time.

MUA Bring It.  This is my everyday, at home red.  It's not insanely pigmented at first but builds up to be quite bright if you wish.  I don't wish, so I leave it at a swipe.  It's just a nice, not too bright or strong Red.  It also comes with a glitter lipgloss which Miss 4 uses regularly!  Best part? 1.50 GBP or about $2.30 AUD!  Bargain!

I also swatched my remaining 50 lipsticks in Orange, Purples and Vintage Vamps.  Are you interested in swatches of those as well?

What red don't I have but you think I ABSOLUTELY need?!

Boring Makes Me A Little Uneasy

Something a little boring for my usual flamboyant tastes, but I found this little dress stashed away in the back of the wardrobe and realised I had never worn it.  Purchased for a bargain price of $20 a couple of years ago on Etsy.  The shoes were the only pair I own in a plain neutral color and were purchased recently for $6 from Brands Exclusive.

I felt a little drab, but was surprised that I got more outfit compliments than usual.
Maybe boring becomes me?  How horrifying!!

It has crocheted rose and stud details over the bodice which are all in mint condition.  In fact, the whole dress looks barely worn.   The back is zipped with a buckle belt, which is handy to belt in if I ever wake up one day and find my waist has shrunk by several inches.  HA!

Once again, my hair flower is made by Uncle Fezter Flowers.  Have you checked out his store yet?

Gloss n Sparkle Slowly Growing Deaf

This is the third polish I won in Laquerheads of Oz's giveaway a couple of weeks ago.  Slowly Growing Deaf is certainly unique, with a blue/grey base chocked full of teeny red and silver glitter.  This was 2 coats.

I'm Not A Cliche

Polkadots have been ruined by becoming a Rockabilly/50's cliche.
Wanna look try hard?  Wear a polkadotted halter necked dress.

I like to think I don't look cliched in this ORIGINAL 1950's dress!

The collar doesn't quite stand up on it's own so it needs help with me constantly pulling it up and doing a little cliche try hard Rockabilly face as well.

I'm going red haired this week!  Wish me luck!
